AhlulBayt News Agency: An Israeli official has confirmed that several Israeli drones, valued in the “hundreds of millions” of dollars, have gone missing within Iranian territory during Iran’s recent defensive operations in response to what Tehran labels an unprovoked war.
Citing an unnamed source, Israel’s Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported that these unmanned aerial vehicles vanished after entering Iranian airspace during military confrontations launched by Israel on June 13.
The Israeli offensive targeted Iran’s nuclear, military, and residential infrastructure with support from the United States, its closest ally, in terms of military coordination and intelligence.
In response, Iran carried out defensive operations by intercepting incoming threats and neutralizing hostile drones and aircraft, reportedly downing several Israeli fighter jets in the process.
Tehran retaliated by launching hundreds of ballistic missiles—including hypersonic and multi-warhead types—against military, nuclear, and industrial sites in occupied Palestinian territories.
This counterassault, known as Operation True Promise III, struck major Israeli cities including Tel Aviv (economic hub), Haifa (strategic port), and Be’er Sheva (technology center), inflicting extensive damage.
Channel 13 in Israel reported considerable harm to military installations and strategic assets, though Israeli officials have not released official damage assessments and have allegedly sought to suppress public documentation of the destruction.
Israel’s finance ministry estimates the cost of the Iranian retaliation at $3 billion. Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich later projected the total war cost could reach $12 billion.
In a televised interview, Brigadier General Mohammad-Reza Naqdi of the IRGC said Iran had only activated “less than five percent” of its defense capabilities, clarifying that this represented minimal operational deployment rather than depletion of resources.
